Technical features of the HALO T-FLOATER brake disc
- The HALO outer ring design ensures consistent heat dissipation under thermal stress conditions, while keeping the brake pad contact surface clean.
- The outer ring thickness is 6.0 mm (320 mm) and includes an additional cooling hole on the outer perimeter.
- The laser-cut and precision-ground outer section is attached to an aircraft-grade CNC-machined billet aluminium carrier, which is black anodized and laser-marked.
- The T-Floater system provides precise controlled float behaviour even in extreme racing conditions
- The sophisticated T-Floater design withstands high mechanical loads and reduces wear to a minimum
- The T-Floater system is lightweight thanks to specially designed hard-anodized aluminium floaters.
- Halo T-Floater front brake disc Yamaha, outer diameter 298mm, inner diameter 132mm, thickness 6.0mm, bolt circle 150mm
When to replace a motorcycle brake disc
- What is the average service life of a motorcycle brake disc?
The average service life of a motorcycle brake disc is around 40,000 km. This value varies depending on the disc type, material quality, riding style, motorcycle weight and the thermal loads experienced during repeated braking.
- How do you know if a brake disc is damaged?
Motorcycle brake discs should be checked every 20,000 to 30,000 km or at every change of brake pads.
A motorcycle brake disc must be replaced as soon as cracks, warping, excessive runout appear, or when the minimum thickness specified by the manufacturer is reached. A disc out of tolerance causes reduced braking efficiency and accelerated pad wear.
A warped brake disc is indicated by vibrations at the lever or pedal during braking, irregular pulsing, or a loss of progressive feel. Disc runout causes uneven contact with the pads and requires immediate replacement of the affected disc.
- Can a rusted brake disc be recovered?
A brake disc showing advanced corrosion or rust is considered unfit for use. Corrosion alters the friction surface and heat dissipation, making any cleaning operation ineffective and incompatible with safe braking.
