Whether you enjoy linking bends together, taking in the scenery at a relaxed pace or putting your wheels on the track, the region offers a wide variety of experiences within just a few kilometres.

Discover the Route des Crêtes and experience the thrill of the Vosges
Head for the peaks along the legendary Route des Crêtes, the D430. This panoramic road stretches for approximately 73 km across the highest parts of the mountain range and provides access to the Grand Ballon, the highest point in the Vosges at an altitude of 1,424 metres.
Hairpin bends follow one another, the forest gives way to open ridgelines, and the 360° views over the Alsace plain, the Black Forest and, on a clear day, even the Alps make the climb well worth the effort.
Some essential stops along or near this route include:
- Le Hohneck, at 1,363 metres, for one of the most spectacular panoramic views in the Vosges;
- Lac Blanc, a glacial lake surrounded by steep cliffs, with striking turquoise water;
- Col de la Schlucht and Col du Bonhomme, two iconic mountain passes in the range;
- Col de Bramont, a quieter alternative for riders looking for less crowded roads.
The Vosges mountains also bear the scars of the First World War. The Hartmannswillerkopf memorial, located on the heights, is well worth a visit for anyone interested in this chapter of history.
Please note that the Route des Crêtes is closed during winter, so it is advisable to check the opening dates before setting off. Even in summer, temperatures can drop significantly at higher altitudes, so keeping a windproof jacket in your SW-Motech top case is always a good idea. From experience, we know that the road surface varies considerably depending on the section, and some uphill hairpins are paved, so take care! Maintain a safe margin, adjust your speed, and not only because of the numerous speed checks carried out in the region, and remain alert for cyclists, hikers and animals that may cross the road.
For food lovers, the Vosges are home to numerous traditional farm inns where you can enjoy a local meal, including meat pie, roïgabrageldi and Munster cheese, after a morning spent riding along the ridges.
Ride along the unmissable Alsace Wine Route
This is one route you simply cannot miss! Stretching for almost 170 km between Marlenheim and Thann, it winds through many villages ranked among the most beautiful in France, including Riquewihr, Eguisheim, Ribeauvillé and Kaysersberg. Cobbled streets, flower-covered half-timbered houses and wine cellars provide a stunning backdrop around every bend. The road is narrow, winding and offers plenty of views over the vineyards, but it is also very busy during summer. Spring or autumn are therefore better options, when tourist traffic is lighter and temperatures are more comfortable.
There is no shortage of wine-tasting cellars along the Alsace Wine Route either, but remember to book an overnight stay. When travelling by motorcycle, it is always better to resist the temptation of a glass of Riesling before getting back on the road!
Along the way, several detours are well worth the extra kilometres. Perched on its rocky outcrop, the Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg overlooks the entire Alsace plain and offers an exceptional panoramic view. Further north, Mont Sainte-Odile is another essential stop for admiring the region from above.
For lovers of cultural heritage, a detour through Colmar and its Little Venice district is a must at the end of the day. You should also stop in Eguisheim, a fortified circular village with unique charm, or in Riquewihr, one of the most photographed villages in Alsace.
Book your track day at the Anneau du Rhin
Would you like to leave the public roads behind and unleash your motorcycle's power in a safe environment?
Head to the Anneau du Rhin circuit in Biltzheim, not far from Colmar. Opened in 1996, it is the largest circuit in north-eastern France, with a 3.7 km FIA Grade 3 homologated main track that can be adapted into several configurations for car and motorcycle track days, riding courses and road-safety training. However, it is a private facility: access is strictly reserved for invited guests, and members of the public are only admitted during events organised throughout the year. We hope to see many of you there for the WERC 2026 round in early September!
To ride on the circuit yourself, you will therefore need to register for a supervised track day organised by a specialist provider or take part in a riding course.
The technical and varied layout combines fast sections with slower areas requiring precision when positioning the motorcycle and braking. It is an excellent place to spend a day improving your riding, either independently or with an instructor, before heading back onto the roads of the Vosges the following day with a few more cornering reference points.

If your route takes you further north, between Strasbourg and the Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park, a stop at Moto Vision's only physical shop in France is well worth considering, particularly for track-focused riders.
