What is the purpose of a motorbike spark plug?

The spark plug plays an essential role in the combustion of a petrol engine, as it is responsible for igniting the air/fuel mixture in the engine's combustion chamber. This combustion creates the power to set the vehicle in motion.

To ensure that the combustion is carried out in an optimal way, the spark (ignition) that ignites the mixture must occur at the moment when the piston reaches its highest compression point. The quality of this ignition influences many factors that can affect driving and the environment, such as performance, engine efficiency and the reduction of pollutant emissions.
