Where should you install your insurance sticker holder on your motorbike?

Installing an insurance sticker holder is quick and easy. This device is generally fixed to the frame, the fork or even the fairing of the motorbike, depending on the rider’s preferences and the configuration of the vehicle. Some models use a clamp mounting system, while others are screwed directly onto the bike for better stability. There are also magnetic or adhesive holders for even easier and removable installation.

In terms of design, insurance sticker holders are available in various materials, from impact-resistant plastic to anodised aluminium, offering excellent durability against bad weather and vibrations. Some models include a sealing ring to protect the document from moisture and dirt, ensuring optimal legibility in all circumstances.

Among the well-known brands in this field, Topline stands out for the quality and robustness of its insurance sticker holders. Made from premium materials, their models ensure a secure mounting while adding an aesthetic touch to the motorbike. Available in several designs and colours, they allow riders to personalise their vehicle while complying with current regulations. Topline also focuses on ergonomic design, making it easy to insert and remove the insurance sticker.

Is it compulsory to have your insurance sticker on a motorbike?

A frequent question among riders concerns the obligation to use such a holder: is it absolutely necessary to have one? Well, not necessarily, at least in France.

*From 1 April 2024, the green insurance certificate and the windscreen sticker will disappear from registered vehicles, but car or motorbike insurance remains mandatory and essential. Insurers now enter information into a database known as the “Fichier des Véhicules Assurés” (FVA – insured vehicles file), which can be consulted by the French law enforcement authorities. During a roadside check, it will therefore no longer be necessary to present proof of insurance. The police will verify, using the registration number, in this file whether the driver is actually insured.

If you travel abroad by motorbike in Europe**, you do not have to complete any additional formalities. As in France, reading your registration plate is enough to prove that you are insured.

To be allowed on the road, registered vehicles must still be covered at least by third-party car or motorbike insurance. This type of insurance is intended to protect the victims of a road accident by allowing them to obtain compensation for bodily injury or material damage from an insurer, and it remains compulsory.
