Technical specifications of the Hel Performance 16mm brake master cylinder
The lever features a pill-shaped hole into which one of two inserts is fitted. One insert has an offset hole – with the hole closest to the master cylinder, you get a -1 ratio. If you rotate the insert 180 degrees, you get a +1 ratio, and if you use the insert with the central hole, you get a 1:1 ratio.
This means that with a 16mm master cylinder, you can achieve ratios of 15/16, 16/16, and 17/16 using just one lever and two inserts.
With the 16mm master cylinder, you can achieve 15/16, 16/16, and 17/16 using one lever and one insert.
On our store, you’ll also find the Hel Performance 19mm brake master cylinder. With the 19mm version, you can achieve 18/19, 19/19, and 20/19 ratios using one lever and one insert.
Both master cylinder sizes allow you to choose the desired braking bite, and their three ratio options let you fine-tune your braking effort* to +1, -1, or 1:1, identical to the original.
*The braking effort corresponds to the travel distance of your fingers on the lever for the same braking effect.
Lever ratios
16 – For clutch or single front brake master cylinders (small CC models)
18 – More lever travel and feel for dual caliper systems (larger CC models)
19 – Medium lever travel with a firmer feel – a good compromise
20 – Shorter lever travel and the firmest feel on the lever
Manufacturing of the Hel Performance 16mm brake master cylinder
Hel Performance manufactures all metal components of the master cylinder (including levers) in-house on Brother and Star CNC machines from solid 6082-T6 aluminum billets.
Each master cylinder body takes one hour of machining to remove material to our strict standards, with the bore automatically measured during the cycle. Every master cylinder is hand-finished and individually assembled, supplied with the latest lever model that allows three ratios from a single lever.
HEL Performance master cylinders include a fully CNC-machined black lever offering three ratios in one.
